Marcus Rashford is my new hero! The bloke is an absolute powerhouse when it comes to highlighting issues that are affecting children, bringing out two campaigns this week alone!
His first campaign is his new book club, but the one I am most interested in is his teaming up with Tom Kerridge to stop childhood hunger.
This new campaign, ‘Full Time – Get Cooking with Marcus and Tom’ is a campaign to get boys cooking more and consists of 52 recipes on Instagram that come out every Sunday.
Inspired by their determination to get more lads in the kitchen, here’s a recipe that is so easy to make and will soon become a firm favourite in any household!
If you do want to cheat and buy a pizza base, please do, but please get your kids involved in decorating! Pizza night is always a lovely family event as not only do you get to mess around decorating it but you get to eat it as well!

Makes two pizzas
- 500g Plain flour (plus extra for kneading)
- 1tsp Salt
- 1tsp Sugar
- 1tsp Yeast
- 2tbsp Olive oil
- 240ml Warm water (This varies on flour used, but this is a rough estimate)
To Make
Into a bowl place the flour, salt, sugar and yeast. Then add the olive oil and water and combine to form a lumpy dough. Place on a clear surface sprinkled with flour and knead for about 10 minutes. It should become smooth and springy and bounces back if you lightly prod it. Place it in a warm area with a tea towel or cling film wrapped over and leave to rise till it has doubled in size.
Once this is doubled in size, knock the air out by hitting it once. Then divide it into two balls and roll out into large circles on a sheet of greaseproof paper. Leave this to double in size again which will result in a light and fluffy pizza base.
To Decorate
For this you will need
- 1 x Jar pasta sauce (Most supermarkets sell them pre-made with onion chunks in, and its just easier for fussy eaters!)
- 1 x Ball mozzarella
- Some grated cheese, cheddar works well for this
- Whatever else you want to decorate your pizza with, these might be pre-sliced black olives, salami. Bell peppers are also brilliant!

When the pizza has risen in size, pre-heat your oven to 240°c. Cover your pizza in a thin layer of sauce, and then let your little one go wild. They might be a perfectionist or they might make a face, one of my favourite of all time was a treasure map!
When they have finished decorating, cook it in the oven for about 10-15 minutes, until golden brown, and serve! This is a brilliant meal to introduce children to cooking, as not only is it delicious, but its fun to make as well!
