The Luminox Bear Grylls Survival 3723 Outdoor Explorer Watch is an exceptional timepiece designed for those who appreciate rugged outdoor adventures. You know, rugged, outdoor adventures like raising a child ????

As part of the Bear Grylls Survival collection, this watch is engineered to handle extreme conditions, making it an ideal companion for outdoor enthusiasts. Although we gest about how adventurous raising children is, it is important for dads to have a solid watch to wear not just for general day to day, but something they can feel good about wearing in all aspects of life from work, to fancy events.
This watch is great because it delivers on both fronts – you can wear it in the pool on holiday, at work, climbing a mountain or to a wedding!
So let’s get into it…

Design and Build Quality

The 42mm case is crafted from Carbonox, a Luminox proprietary material that is both lightweight and incredibly durable. This gives the watch a robust feel without being cumbersome on the wrist. The black case, paired with the orange accents, gives it a striking, tactical look that stands out but remains functional. Paired with one of the Luminox orange rubber straps, like this one and it really pops. The watch is also water-resistant up to 200 meters, making it suitable for swimming, snorkeling, and even diving in shallow waters – like the shallow end of the baby swimming pool that you’ll be in most Sunday mornings…

Features

One of the standout features of this watch is the Luminox Light Technology (LLT), which ensures the time is visible in low-light conditions for up to 25 years. This self-powered illumination is a significant advantage for anyone who finds themselves in dark environments, such as during nighttime hikes or camping trips or navigating left out toys on the landing. It’s literally perfect when wondering what the time is for that night feed without the glaring blue light from your phone.
Additionally, the watch face is protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating, ensuring clarity in any light condition. The uni-directional turning bezel has a special diving zone count up marking, set off by a different colour (blue or orange) for easy reading and the screw-down crown has an orange rubber ring, for better grip, and the colour matches the markings on the bezel and the minute and second hands.

Performance

In terms of performance, the Luminox Bear Grylls Survival 3723 is powered by a Swiss quartz movement, ensuring precise timekeeping. The rotating bezel is easy to manipulate and provides a tactile, satisfying click with each turn, making it reliable for tracking elapsed time.

Comfort

Despite its rugged design, the watch is comfortable for everyday wear. The 42mm case size is just right for most wrists, and the strap included is comfy, despite my preference to opt for the orange rubber strap, which I think adds to the watch’s overall comfort and versatility.

Final thoughts?

The Luminox Bear Grylls Survival 3723 Outdoor Explorer Watch is more than just a timepiece; it’s a survival tool. Its combination of durability, practical features, and the association with Bear Grylls himself makes it a perfect choice for dadventurers and outdoor enthusiasts. Whether you’re traversing the wilderness or simply navigating your day-to-day with the kids, this watch is built to withstand the elements and keep you on track. It’s a solid investment for those who need a reliable, durable, and stylish watch.
