England fans getting excited for Euro 2022 semi-final

Euro 2022 semi final

England fans are getting excited ahead of Tuesday’s Euro 2022 semi-final with Sweden at Bramall Lane, Sheffield, which kicks off at 8pm.

The Lionesses, Euros runners-up in 1984 and 2009, now face Sweden in the last four as they continue their quest for a first major piece of silverware.

After scoring 14 goals without reply across three group-stage victories, Sarina Wiegman’s side showed impressive fight to emerge victorious against Spain in extra time last week. It marked their return to the Amex, where they recorded the biggest win in Euros history by demolishing Norway 8-0.

If the Lionesses progress on Tuesday night, against a highly rated Sweden team, they will take on Germany or France, who meet on Wednesday night in the other Euro 2022 semi-final.

Previous semi-finals

This will be the England team’s fourth successive semi-final in major tournaments, but they failed to reach a final in any of the previous three attempts. However, even though Sweden were Olympic finalists in both of the last two tournaments, the home team will fancy their chances after some stunning displays this summer.

You have to look back to 2009 for the last time England’s women reached a major tournament final. On that occasion, they lost in the final to Germany at Euro 2009 in Finland.
