Netflix users threaten to cancel subscriptions after price suddenly rises overnight

Netflix subscribers who use Apple devices recently experienced a surprise in their billing.

The streaming service adjusted its pricing structure, prompting some users to reconsider their subscriptions. Those accustomed to paying through Apple saw their fees increase, sparking frustration and even threats to cancel memberships.

The adjustment, which came into effect earlier this year, eliminates Netflix’s Basic ad-free plan for Apple-billed customers. Instead, users are now directed to pay Netflix directly. While this move may streamline billing processes for the streaming giant, it has left some customers dissatisfied with the change, lamenting the loss of a convenient payment method.

For those opting to retain their subscriptions, the pricing breakdown now offers a choice between enduring advertisements at a lower cost or paying more for an ad-free experience. This decision adds a new layer of consideration for subscribers as they evaluate their viewing preferences against their budget.

Netflix’s tiered pricing model now includes options ranging from a Standard plan with ads to a Premium plan offering an ad-free experience with enhanced features. However, the removal of the Basic plan for new or re-joining members underscores the evolving landscape of streaming services and subscription offerings.
