Urgent recall for a Mumsnet 'best-rated' baby monitor because of fire hazard risks

The Philips Avent Digital Video baby monitor is judged by Mumsnet as the best on the market

An award-winning baby monitor is being recalled over fire hazard safety fears.

The Philips Avent Digital Video baby monitor received the rated by Mumsnet as the best on the market but it has since been reportedly poses a potential fire hazard.

A notice was shared by the Chartered Trading Standards Institute on Monday (February 3) warning customers of the dangers.

It read:

As a precaution, Philips is voluntarily recalling all seven Digital Video Baby Monitor models in the SCD620 series, produced between January 2016 and March 2018.

  • SCD620/93
  • SCD620/52
  • SCD620/26
  • SCD620/05
  • SCD620/01

In very rare cases, the battery in the parent unit can overheat while plugged into the electrical connection.
